Abstract
Burn scar contracture is a common complication after full-thickness skin burn. It should be surgically corrected and many therapeutic methods such as local flap, free flap and skin graft have been reported. In this paper we report our experience that used seven-flap plasty in treating axillary burn scar contracture in a 24 years old female patient. Seven-flap plasty that consists of two half Z plasties and one W-M plasty was designed on burn scar contracture on left axilla. Each flap has been raised with underlying fascia for viability of flaps. Splint was not applied. Patient has been followed up for 11 months. We have obtained actual gain in length more than 180 percent. The patient had relief of scar contracture without recurrence and need for further splinting and physical therapy. In axillary burn scar contracture, if there is no extensive tissue or skin loss, seven-flap plasty is good choice for correction of contracture. (Journal of Korean Burn Society 2007;10:157-160)
